This EU program aimed at supporting and linking sustainable cities initiatives in Europe and China. Within this framework I was commissioned to identify, evaluate and communicate European sustainability advances in the field of urban renewal. A detailed desk-top research included the evaluation of 68 case studies all over Europe and assessed the achievements in terms of climate change adaptation, climate change mitigation, ecological ventures, economic sustainability and social conviviality. The report was distributed among the Chinese partner municipalities, but also presented in a number of scientific conferences in Europe and outside.
Furthermore, it can be downloaded from ZENODO repos:  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5796643.

GURN session at WUF 6
Feasibility Study on the possible creation of a Global Urban Research Network as 'the research pillar' part of the UN-HABITAT Partner University Initiative. Our proposal was presented and discussed in a well visited round table session at the World Urban Forum VI in Naples, but could not be put into practice due to lack of funds. A summary report is available on the UN-HABITAT site.

In 1991, very little research had been published on Latin American urbanization. PC were not a common working tool, and even the main research funding institutions did not keep any records of the projects which they had financed n the past. The requested information had to be collected through visits and interview at known university institutes in Germany. The result as first published bibliography on the topic: · Mathéy/ Ribbeck: »Architektur, Wohnungs- und Städtebau in Lateinamerika : Überblick und Bibliographie zur wissenschaftlichen Forschung im deutschssprachigen Raum« [Karlsruhe : Lehrstuhl für Städtebau und Entwerfen, 1993]
